A woman in a dark wool coat walking along a city pavement in low morning sun, one hand trailing back along a metal railing, head lifted and mouth slightly open as she catches her breath mid-stride. A coral backpack over one shoulder is the only saturated color. The street behind her is out of focus, and the railing throws long shadows across the paving.

"I'm fine" is your answer even when you're not, and you don't remember deciding to say it.

You've cried in the car, the shower, or a bathroom at work, and it never came up again.

You know the physical shape of overwhelmed, and for a long time now you've just been calling it busy.

What it’s been costing

None of this shows up as a single bad day. It shows up as a slow flattening: the same jokes landing less, the same evenings gone before you notice them leave. A body that's been running on alert so long it no longer remembers the alternative. If most days feel closer to hard than fine right now, this program isn't built to carry that on its own. A therapist is the right first call, and coaching sits well alongside one.

You've probably tried the bath, the app, the breathing video. Some of it helped for an evening. None of it stayed, and that isn't because you did it wrong. Most of what gets marketed as self-care never actually finishes anything your body started — it just distracts from it for a while.

Why this works when self-care advice hasn't

Most advice in this area treats calm as a mood to summon. This program treats it as a sequence: name it, catch it early, let it move through you, and finish what it started. Most quick fixes cover one step and skip the last, which is usually why the app or the bath worked for one evening and then stopped.

Lisa Feldman Barrett's research on emotional granularity found that people who can name a feeling precisely, not just bad but disappointed, or depleted, regulate it better. A vague word gives you nothing to actually work with.

Dan Siegel's window of tolerance explains the two directions a nervous system goes under real pressure: flooded, or shut down. Both look like a personality problem. Neither is one. Tara Brach's RAIN gives you four steps for a feeling that's already here: recognize, allow, investigate, nurture.

Susan Nolen-Hoeksema's research on rumination draws the line this program leans on hardest: replaying a thought isn't the same as resolving it. Only one of the two ever finishes.

The last piece is the easiest to miss, because by then the problem already looks solved. Emily and Amelia Nagoski's research on burnout is blunt about it: the stressor and the stress are two separate problems. Solving the first doesn't automatically resolve the second. Your body needs an actual signal that it's over: movement, breath, connection, laughter, crying, or creative expression. Not just time passing.

The published psychology behind these six modules

Researchers, not testimonials. Each name links to a plain-English summary of what they actually found, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

What it draws on

The work draws on research rather than reassurance. Lisa Feldman Barrett on emotional granularity. Dan Siegel on the window of tolerance. Susan Nolen-Hoeksema on rumination. Tara Brach's RAIN for processing a feeling in real time. Emily and Amelia Nagoski on completing the stress cycle. Every technique is coaching-appropriate, nervous-system literacy for a system under ordinary pressure — never a treatment for a diagnosed condition.

What you get

  1. 01Name It to Tame ItThe word that's been standing in for everything, replaced with sharper ones — plus which of four stress patterns is yours, and which module to slow down in.
  2. 02Your Body Keeps the SignalThe early warning sign, well before the flood or the shutdown. Almost always smaller than you'd expect.
  3. 03The Hour Nothing Is TrueWhy one in the morning lies to you specifically, and the ten minutes that quiet it.
  4. 04RAIN, GuidedFour steps for an actual feeling, worked through a real example, not a slogan.
  5. 05What the Numbing Is ForDeliberately the lightest, with one idea. Numbing isn't a failure. It's a sign the load has outgrown your support.
  6. 06Complete the CycleThe six things that actually finish stress your body is still carrying, your own menu, and the swap that puts one where the numbing was.
  • A 43-page printable workbook, built to be written in.
  • Six audio lessons, eight to twelve minutes each, made for the car or the kitchen.
  • Your regulation menu, with room to keep expanding it after the six weeks end.
  • The whole program on one page, sized to photograph and keep on your phone.
  • One email per module, so it arrives instead of waiting for you to remember.

When this isn't the right thing

If most days are hard right now

If what you're carrying includes panic attacks, flashbacks, or days you genuinely can't function through, that's not what six modules of skills are built to hold. In the US you can call or text 988 at any hour, free. Coaching works well alongside real treatment. It's a poor substitute for it, and nothing here is presented as one.

If the wine, the food or the scrolling isn't a choice anymore

If it has stopped being something you choose and become the thing you can't not do, that's its own territory. It responds to its own kind of help. SAMHSA's national helpline is 1-800-662-4357, free, confidential, twenty-four hours, and it will refer you locally.

If you want the feeling gone entirely

It doesn't work that way, and anything promising otherwise is selling you something that doesn't exist. What changes is how early you catch it, and whether it finishes instead of accumulating. The feeling itself stays part of being a person.

If the load itself is the actual problem

Sometimes the honest answer isn't better regulation. It's an unsustainable job, an unequal share at home, or a season with no real support in it. No amount of breathing fixes a genuinely exploitative situation. A program that implied otherwise would be handing you the blame for someone else's arrangement.

If you're looking for a diagnosis

This names patterns and teaches skills. It doesn't evaluate or label a clinical condition, and nothing here is meant to be read as one. If you suspect something more specific is going on, that's a conversation for a licensed professional, not a workbook.

Honest answers

How long does it actually take?

About six weeks if you follow the emails, and roughly an hour a week. It's self-paced and permanent, so slower is genuinely fine. The exercises are the part that matters, and each module ends with one action deliberately smaller than your resistance to it.

Is this therapy?

No, and it doesn't substitute for it. This is coaching — nervous-system literacy and regulation skills for women who are functioning and want something to change. Plenty of women do both at once, and that's a good plan.

I've tried breathing apps and things like this before.

Breath is one of six things the Nagoskis name for finishing stress, alongside movement, connection, laughter, crying, and creative expression. An app gives you one of them. Module 6 builds your own menu from all six, so you can reach for whichever fits the moment.

Can I do this from my phone?

Most of it. The audio lessons are made for the car or the kitchen, the one-page summary is sized to keep on your phone, and the tools live in your account. The workbook is a printable, built to be written in, so it works best on paper.

Is this positive thinking or new age calm?

No. It doesn't ask you to think your way out of a feeling or pretend you're fine. It teaches skills from published research. Lisa Feldman Barrett on naming a feeling precisely, Susan Nolen-Hoeksema on replaying versus resolving, and the Nagoskis on completing the stress cycle. It's coaching rather than treatment, and it says plainly where that line sits.

Is the audio AI?

The voice is, and we'd rather tell you than let you find out in module 2. We write every script by hand, word for word. The voice reading them is generated by ElevenLabs, built to a brief for this brand rather than picked off a shelf. Two honest reasons for it. All six lessons sound like one person, start to finish. And a line that turns out to be wrong gets fixed the same afternoon, instead of waiting on a recording session. The words are ours and so is the thinking behind them. The reading is not.

Is there any way to tell if it's working?

Yes, and it's built in. You answer twelve statements in module 1, then the same twelve at the end. The comparison is yours — scored on your device, and nothing leaves it unless you send it. Most of what changes here is gradual enough to miss from the inside, and that's the kind of change that's easiest to talk yourself out of. A number you wrote down six weeks before you read the result is harder to argue with. It's called The Proof, and it's included.

I've tried things like this and not finished them.

Most people don't finish online programs, so that's ordinary rather than a character flaw. This is built around it. Module 5 is deliberately the lightest, because week five is where people stop. There's a catch-up email if you fall behind, and the workbook says in its front matter that missed weeks are part of the design.

What if it turns out I need more than this?

That's a completely normal outcome, not a failure of the program. The workbook says plainly where the edge of coaching sits. The referral page lists real numbers, not a vague suggestion to "seek help."

What if it isn't for me?

Seven days, no questions asked, no form to fill out. Email us and it's refunded.

Seven days, no questions

If it isn't what you needed, email us within seven days and we'll refund it. You don't have to explain, and you keep the files. A program about naming things honestly would be a strange place to make you justify a refund.
